Our Stay at The Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront

We decided to take a weekend getaway to one of our favorite cities that is only two hours from our home, Savannah. There are so many things to do in this small coastal city in Georgia. From it’s cobblestoned squares that have incredible restaurants to beautiful parks with huge oak trees shaded by Spanish moss, this is the perfect city for a quick getaway.

During our visit we got to stay at one of the most stylish hotels we have ever been to, The Bohemian Hotel Savannah, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. This upscale boutique hotel located right on the Savannah River is the perfect place to lay your head due to it’s proximity to everything there is to do in downtown Savannah. The entire building is full of maritime-inspired original artwork that is handpicked by the owner of these beautiful hotels, which adds to the eclectic vibe of the hotel.

Our room had absolutely everything we could have ever needed. It had a huge king bed with floor to ceiling windows that overlook either the river or downtown Savannah. The bathroom had a huge walk in shower and beautiful marble countertops. We especially loved the custom oyster shell chandelier over our bed, it was such a unique touch! It even came with a bottle of complementary champagne!

By far our favorite thing about this hotel was the rooftop bar, called Rocks on the Roof, that overlooks the Savannah River. They have an incredible tapas menu and some of the most creative and delicious cocktails we’ve ever tasted! This rooftop bar is also popular with locals and tourists alike, it’s definitely the place to be on a Friday or Saturday night! They also have a restaurant on the first floor of the hotel, Rocks on the River, with a full menu and huge wine list.

The hotel is doing an incredible job of creating a safe environment for you to escape during this time. All of the staff members are wearing masks, and all of the guests to the hotel are also required to wear masks when walking around the hotel property. There’s hand sanitizer stations all throughout the hotel, all of the tables at the restaurant are 6 feet apart, and their housekeeping crew is constantly cleaning and sanitizing everything. We felt extremely safe the entire time we were there.

Another thing that stood out to us during our stay here was the staff. They went above and beyond to accommodate us and were extremely friendly. Everyone who worked there knew our names and were very helpful and gave us recommendations on their favorite menu items and drinks. They even offered to call us cabs when we went out to explore the city.

To conclude, our stay at The Bohemian Hotel was absolutely incredible. This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Savannah due to its proximity to downtown, amazing rooms and food, and its amazing rooftop! We seriously cant recommend this hotel enough!

Our Stay at The Perry Key West

While we were in Key West, we stayed at The Perry Key West, and it was AMAZING! We’ve been to Key West multiple times before, but staying at The Perry made our visit to this tiny island even better. This hotel is like nothing else we’ve ever experienced. With two huge pools, three restaurants, two dog parks, 288 boat slip marina, and even a distillery that makes their own rum, vodka, and whiskey, you’ll definitely never get bored here!

Our room had absolutely everything we could have ever needed. We stayed in the Stock Island King room which has a view of the main pool on property and the marina! We loved opening the sliding glass doors every morning to watch the sunrise from our balcony. The huge king bed was insanely comfortable and the walk-in shower that was in our bathroom was beautiful! The room even came with a complimentary bottle of champagne!

By far our favorite thing about the hotel was the MASSIVE pool. It is situated right on the waterfront, so you have incredible views of the marina and the huge boats that occupy it while relaxing on their 50+ white lounge chairs. They have a bar located right next to the pool, called the Salty Oyster, that serves delicious drinks, appetizers, and sandwiches. It was very hard for us to leave the pool!

The hotel is doing an incredible job of creating a safe environment for you to escape during this time. All of the staff members are wearing masks, and all of the guests to the hotel are also required to wear masks when walking around the hotel property. There’s hand sanitizer stations all throughout the hotel, all of the chairs at the pool and tables at the restaurant are 6 feet apart, and their housekeeping crew is constantly cleaning and sanitizing everything. We felt extremely safe the entire time we were there.

If you end up staying at The Perry, you MUST eat at their main on-site restaurant, Matt’s Stock Island. The food was absolutely incredible. They serve an amazing breakfast spread (try the Banana Bread Pancakes!), but our favorite was our dinner experience. We got the Shrimp & Grits and the Grouper Gnudi. It was TO DIE FOR. Their cocktails are also incredible. We highly recommend you eat here at least once during your stay. The restaurant also welcomes guests who don’t have reservations at the hotel!

The hotel is not actually located on the island of Key West, but on a small island right next to Key West called Stock Island. They offer a complimentary shuttle service every hour to the downtown area of Key West which takes less than 10 minutes to get there. The hotel also has onsite scooter and bike rentals.

Another main selling point of this hotel is the water activities that they offer. Since they are located right on the marina, they have partnered with multiple private boat charters that can take you snorkeling and diving, fishing, sandbar hopping, and even sailing. Just go to their onsite concierge and they are happy to plan any of these exciting activities for you.

They also have a huge event space that is perfect for weddings and any other parties available for rent. We were also told that they will start having concerts on their lawn once it is safe to do so!

Our stay at The Perry Key West was absolutely perfect. This hotel is the best place to stay in Key West if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway. The customer service, rooms, food, and hotel amenities were all top notch. We seriously can’t recommend this hotel enough!

Weekend Getaway to Asheville

Renee and I had a 3 day weekend coming up so we decided to try our luck with a road trip to Asheville, NC. We’ve always heard good things about this city: tons of craft breweries, hiking trails galore, and amazing food made this city land in many different travel articles’ top 10 places to visit in the U.S. And wow, it definitely didn’t disappoint! We wish we had longer than 3 days to explore this city. The abundance of shops, restaurants, and beer will definitely bring us back!

What To Do

Explore downtown by foot

Downtown Asheville is very walk-able, it only took us about 15 minutes to walk end to end. There are tons of cute shops, restaurants galore, and many bars/breweries that have rooftop patios to catch the sunset!

Visit the craft breweries

Asheville has the most breweries per capita in the U.S. There are over 20 local brewers within the downtown area and over 40+ in the surrounding areas! The South Slope neighborhood has many breweries within walking distance of one another, including our favorites Wicked Weed, Burial Beer, and Hi-Wire. You could easily spend a day walking around the city trying out different beers fro the many breweries!

Wicked Weed Brewing Company

Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway

Known as one of the most beautiful drives in the U.S., the Blue RIdge Parkway runs for 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina. It goes directly through Asheville, so we decided to take a couple day trips to check out the surrounding areas. There are hundreds of stop offs, hiking trails, and scenic overlooks along the parkway so just choose a few and you won’t be disappointed. Our favorite hikes were the trails to the Beacon Heights Overlook, Devils Courthouse, and High Falls.

Where to Eat + Drink + Explore

  • Tupelo Honey – great brunch spot
  • Wicked Weed Brewing Company – good food and beer
  • The Coffee Bus – cool experience, it’s a coffee shop in an old school double-decker bus
  • Rhubarb – a little pricey, but our dinner was amazing!
  • Hi-Wire Brewery
  • Burial Beer
  • Funkatorium – tons of different sour beers to choose from
  • Mountain View Restaurant – small restaurant we stopped at along the Blue Ridge Parkway with scenic views
